    when you do a serious sit-down and assessment of your own writing skills, let alone get-up-the-gumption-to-write, and realize that nope, they’ve gotten worse over the past year, not better. 

    But this is a serious post, so — how does one pull oneself out of a writing slump? As much of a slump as you can even have as a daily blogger, but still?

     
    1. andrewtsks answered: Just keep writing. Don’t obsess over it, just keep going, doing the best you can. And you’ll pull out of it on your own.

    4. andyhutchins said: Write things that are gulfs away from what you write on a daily basis, and also take breaks from writing. Steal things from better writers, like everyone else does.
    5. jamiesoncox said: I’m trying not to beat myself up over it, and I’m not trying to force anything that isn’t there. I realize this is nigh-impossible for you, because writing is your job. Find something else that’s making you happy and do that for a while instead.
    6. jamiesoncox answered: I went/am going through the same thing. I’m trying to read more, which seems to be helping. I don’t think there’s a concrete answer.
    7. cureforbedbugs answered: Write elsewhere about something outside comfort zones. Also, find support from people who you feel safe w/ but can also kick yr ass.
    8. judyxberman answered: Create a big, ambitious project for yourself that will force you to break the pattern.
    9. perpetua answered: The best thing is to just power through it and learn new strategies for writing to bypass what isn’t working.
